Founded in 1991 by New Delhi based gallerist and arts patron Mrs. Uma Jain in memory of her late husband Ravi Jain, the Ravi Jain Memorial Foundation honors a legacy of championing young artists from around India.
A pivotal figure in establishing Indian art on the global stage during the 60s and 70s, Mr. Jain believed that the arts thrive on the constant infusion of fresh talent, and was a passionate supporter of the emerging voices in Indian art, many of whom went on to become some of the country’s most influential artists.
The foundation nurtures new artists across India and the global South, and annually provides a creative platform to support and showcase emerging artists.
As the art world vibrates with renewed energy, the Ravi Jain Memorial Foundation Annual Awards for Upcoming Young Artists stands as a beacon of creativity and encouragement. Held at Dhoomimal Gallery, this flagship event has been a cornerstone in nurturing emerging artistic talent in India over the last three decades.
The Foundation provides four fellowships (on average) each year for artists across mediums. The jury for these awards has included many art luminaries such as K.S. Kulkarni, Krishen Khanna, and Anjolie Ela Menon.
We are excited to see how each year’s participants shape the future of contemporary art and look forward to celebrating their achievements at our annual exhibition.
